Collection: Koelfontein
Koelfontein has been the proud heritage of seven generations of the Conradie Family.
Every person who has been fortunate enough to lay down roots on this farm is grateful for the life its soil has bestowed upon them and their families. This is the legacy of Koelfontein farm, one which continues to sustain the lives of all who toil here in the Ceres valley to ultimately bring its bounty to other families far and wide.
Fruit farming is the central focus of Koelfontein's business. Their top quality fruit is distributed locally and exported to numerous foreign markets, and is cultivated for fresh consumption, canning and for sun drying.Β
Wine grapes areΒ grown on a much smaller scale to the other fruit on the farm, but have in recent times also garnered a significant reputation for Koelfontein which is also one of the few farms in the Ceres district to grow wine grapes and produce a wine range.
Conservation
Koelfontein Estate is a WWF Conservation Champion. They are acknowledged as an environmental leader in the industry for their commitment to conservation, responsible production practices, integrated environmental management system, and spearheading innovations in water, energy efficiency and climate adaption.Β
In keeping with the farm's ethos of farming in partnership with nature, Koelfontein's wines are part of the Biodiversity & Wine Initiative, because about two-thirds of the farm's 950 hectares extend up into the mountains around the Gydo Pass. These huge tracts of land are rich in virgin indigenous Fynbos, including the rare and threatened Lowland Fynbos.
