This past weekend, we had the pleasure of participating in the Singapore Countryside Experience at the iconic Bukit Timah Saddle Club, and what a breath of fresh air it was- quite literally! Nestled among the lush greenery that’s so rare in our urban jungle, the event was a charming reminder of the rustic beauty and community spirit still thriving in Singapore’s quieter corners.
Hosted in collaboration with the Kranji Countryside Association, the event brought together a curated collection of artisanal producers, farm-fresh produce, handmade goods, and fantastic wine. Our stall was in great company, surrounded by passionate local growers and producers who shared a common love for quality and sustainability.
We were especially honoured to welcome Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Grace Fu and Bedok MP, Dinesh Vasu Dash, both of whom stopped by our booth to sample some of our finest South African wines. To our delight, they not only enjoyed the tasting, but they also bought some wine!
But the real magic of the weekend was in the equestrian displays. Guests were treated to an impressive lineup of performances, including quadrille, showjumping, vaulting, and the elegant pas de deux dressage. The synergy between horse and rider was truly captivating - each movement built on mutual trust, respect, and rhythm. It felt like a poetic metaphor for the harmony we seek between people and the planet - a balance rooted in care, connection, and sustainability.
The open space of Bukit Timah Saddle Club offered a welcome escape from the city's pace. Children ran free, squealing with delight as they enjoyed pony rides and tractor barrel rides and the rare chance to roam safely in wide green spaces. Families and friends gathered under the Marketplace tent with wine glasses in hand to watch the displays. It felt like a countryside getaway without ever leaving the island.
And speaking of wine - flow it did! Our Muratie Johanna Dry Rosé was the star of the weekend, sipped joyfully by many as the afternoon sun lit up the paddocks. Its crisp, refreshing character paired perfectly with the warm weather and the relaxed, celebratory atmosphere.
To keep everyone well-fed, we partnered with Muddy Murphy’s Irish Pub which made delicious farmhouse sandwiches on homemade, freshly baked bread - perfect wine companions and a crowd favourite throughout the day.
In all, the Singapore Countryside Experience was a celebration of community, sustainability, nature, horses, and the simple joys of good food and wine. It reminded us how vital these green spaces are and how much we all cherish the chance to slow down and reconnect - with the land, with animals, and with each other.
We’re already looking forward to the next one. Cheers to that! 🥂
